Does the school have to notify me if my child is punished or arrested at school?

Yes, the school must promptly notify you in person or via telephone about arrests on campus and about school discipline actions involving suspension, expulsion, or removal to an alternative school. The school must also make a “good faith effort” to provide you with written notice of the action on the day the action is taken. If the school hasn’t been able to reach you within one business day, they must mail written notice to you at your last known address.
