According to a national school police organization, school policing is the fastest growing area of law enforcement in the U.S. Despite the rise in popularity of stationing police in schools, there is no clear evidence that the approach prevents targeted school violence, and a number of studies reveal the harmful impact that the regular presence of police in schools can have on students and campus climates.
